Vale of White Horse PSFA

Past Rep Teams

For 46 years, 1966-2012, the Association ran a very successful representative squad and on the past results tab you can find a number of notable achievements. However, during the summer of 2012, teams affiliated to the Oxford Mail Boys’ League voted to play Under 11 matches on Saturday mornings in addition to Sunday morning. This move naturally severely restricted the number of players available for the Vale trials and with deep regret it was decided we could no longer maintain a District Team. Throughout the 46 years, it is obvious that some squads were stronger than others, but we always competed and completed our season. However, with so few players to choose from in the Autumn of 2012 it would have been detrimental to the boys to continue.

The Vale wishes to thank all those who played for the District Team, their parents for their support, referees who have willingly officiated our matches, teachers who gave their time and those who accompanied the teams on their Easter Tours.

Finally, you’ll also find a very interesting Vale Reunited feature which traces the football careers of former players that represented the VALE representative squad including Huddersfield Town’s Dean Whitehead and Swindon Town’s Matthew Taylor.
